Remove Your Profile from Facebook or Browser Search Results

How private you decide to keep your Facebook information is a personal matter. You man want anyone you have ever met to find your Facebook profile and read all about you. On the other hand, most folks desire some level of privacy.

Many of Facebook's default privacy settings, unfortunately, show a lot of your information to Everyone. Even someone "googling" your name. If you do not want your Facebook profile listed when someone searches the Internet, or even when another Facebook member is searching Facebook, follow these easy directions:

  • Hover your cursor over Settings on the top menu line and click Privacy Settings.

  • Click Search.

  • Under Facebook Search Results, click the dropdown arrow and choose your level of privacy: Everyone, Friends of Friends, or Only Friends.

  • Then, make sure the box after Public Search Results is unchecked if you don't want your Facebook profile to show up on Google and other search engines' results page when someone searches the Internet on your name.

I hadn't googled my name since I joined FB and low and behold, there I was. For anybody in the universe to see. My email, city, kids photos ... everything!! I guess I assumed that FB was private. LOL. Thanks.
